The Lagos Island Local Government Council, L.I.L.G.C., is set to launch its new schools project in October.

The project tagged “My Complete Student”, will include both primary and secondary schools within the Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Hon. Nosir A. Musa, Sole Administrator of the Council, stated this in an interview with Newsbreak on Tuesday.

He said, “presently we are preparing for My Complete Student. A programme initiated by the former Chairman now deputy speaker of Lagos State. It’s a project meant for school students whereby we have to clothe them, give them all their schooling materials, both primary and secondary school students in this local government. That will come up in the second week of October by the grace of God.”

Musa who was appointed into office in June 2016, along with 56 other sole administrators said that efforts were being made to engage law offenders popularly called “agberos” in the community.

“ If you go round, you will notice that we don’t have much disturbances in Lagos Island these days, and if there’s any, it’s among themselves, but you hardly see them causing troubles on the streets because we have engaged them.” He said.

“We allotted parks (bus stops) for them to maintain. We also talk to them and make them understand they don’t have to cause troubles. We manage them well.” He continued.

Musa further stated that his office is also working towards ensuring the ban on street trading by the Lagos State Government is realized.

He said “ our environmental officers are working. There is no area you won’t meet them to caution street traders not to hawk on the streets or sidewalk. Lagos Island is a popular area in Lagos State and we the Local Government Council have to carry out our duties to enforce the law.”
