Liverpool were at their very best on Friday night as they dealt Chelsea a deadly blow on their own grounds in a Premier League match. Jurgen Klopp’s men were 2-1 victors over the Blues, who had until today, had a 100% start to the season.
Dejan Lovren gave the Reds the lead in the 17th minute before Jordan Henderson added the second in the 36th minute. The Blues went into the dressing room at half time already two goals down. They, however, began a recovery when Diego Costa scored in the 62nd minute to take his tally to five for the season. Chelsea’s late rally was not to be as they failed to find the equaliser despite throwing on Victor Moses, Cesc Fabregas and Pedro Rodriguez in the final minutes of the match.
The loss drops Chelsea to the third place, level on points with fourth placed Liverpool.
