Manchester United’s world recored signing Paul Pogba scored his first goal for the Red Devils as his team emerged victorious against champions Leicester City at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho opted to keep captain Wayne Rooney on the bench after strings of below par performances. Chris Smalling opened the scoring for United, before Juan Mata doubled his side’s lead by finishing off an impressive move. The Spaniard set up Marcus Rashford shortly after and Paul Pogba made it four with his first ever goal for the club from Daley Blind’s corner. For the first 20 minutes it may have been more of the same from United, ponderous and slow in their approach, but once Smalling had headed in the opener the goals came flowing.
Leicester City, who recorded their third defeat this season, the same figure they had throughout last season, grabbed a consolation through Demarai Gray who guided his hot into the top corner in the 60th minute.
