Two soldiers in the northern Kunduz province of Afghanistan poisoned and shot 13 of their colleagues to death. The spokesman for the ministry, Dawlat Wazir, has told newsmen that the incident is under investigation.
“The two soldiers deserted the small base after killing their fellow troops in Zakhil area on the outskirts of Kunduz city, the capital of the province.
“We have sent a team to the area to investigate the matter,’’ Wazir said.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack saying it also seized all weapons at the base. A council member of the province said the two soldiers, who are now at large, were indeed affiliated with the group.
