Watford were shock 3-1 victors over Manchester United at Vicarage Road on Sunday. The Hornets took the lead in the 34th minute after Etienne Capoue struck his well-hit shot past David De Gea. The Walter Mazzari-led side went into the half time break with the lead. Manchester United, starting the second half brightly, got the equaliser through Marccus Rashford in the 62nd minute. Watford could have taken the lead again but Odion Ighalo fluffed his clear chance to leave the scores at 1-1.
The hosts showed ability to withstand pressure and their hard work paid off in the 84th minute when substitute Juan Camilo Zuniga grabbed the second. Mourinho threw on the attacking duo of Ashley Young and Memphis Depay but made little impact to stop the Red Devils from tasting a second defeat in two Premier League games.
Watford were handed a penalty in stoppage time after Zuniga was brought down by Maroune Fellaini in the penalty area. Captain Troy Deeney stepped up to convert the spot kick and make certain that United were condemned to a third consecutive defeat.
The defeat means Jose Mourinho’s start is worse off to Louis Van Gaal’s.
