Bale Scores First Champions League Goal In Two Years

By Adebayo Williams

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has ended a two-year goal drought in the Champions League. The Welsh star netted in his side’s 5-1 thrashing of visiting Legia Warsaw on Tuesday night. The goal is his first since December 2014 against Ludogorets.

Bale’s early strike opened the floodgates for Real, with the only surprise being that Cristiano Ronaldo did not get in on the score sheet.

The Los Blancos’ next game  is a home duel with Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, in which they will hope to cement their standing among the early title challengers in the Spanish top-flight.
