Court Refuses To Stop Oba Of Benin’s Coronation

An appeals court has refused to halt the October 20 coronation of Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa as Oba of Benin. Justice Olukayode Baba, ruling on the injunction sought by the litigant, Rich Arisco-Osemwingie, granting such injunction will impinge on the substantive appeal.

Arisco-Osemwengie’s grouse, according to his lawyer G.E. Oaikhena, is that a certain Ekiagbado Treaty, which he says his family – Ogiemien family – has a part of was not included in the programme of event for the Oba installation.
