Ivorian striker Didier Drogba refused to show up for his club Montreal Impact on Sunday after being listed as a substitute. The former Chelsea player, whose relationship with coach Mauro Biello has turned sour, declined to play for the side in their 2-2 draw at home tp Toronto. The club had said earlier that the 38-year-old forward had a back injury before confirming after the match that there is a discord between the coach and the player.
”I spoke with him (Saturday) and he didn’t accept the fact that he would come off the bench and, in the end, he didn’t want to be in the 18,” Biello said.
”He decided not to play.”
The player has appeared as a substitute in two of the club’s last four games. He scored 11 goals in 11 games for the club when he joined from Chelsea last July. This season, he has scored 10 goals in 18 starting appearances.
