EFCC Arrests Abia Governorship Contender Uche Ogah

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Monday arrested Uche Ogah, a contender for the Abia governorship seat.

Ogah was picked up by the operatives outside the courtroom, and just after police had withdrawn a forgery case filed against him. According to the EFCC, Ogah, and an ex-employee of United Bank for Africa, Deji Somoye, forged a Memorandum of Understanding between his company, Masters Energy Oil and Gas Limited and Mut-Hass Petroleum Limited sometime in March 2011. He was also said to have forged the signature of a certain Bridget Adeosun in the scam.

Ogah claimed fame recently when a federal high court declared him governor of Abia, while asking the sitting governor Okezie Ikpeazu to vacate the office. The order was later upturned by the appeal court.
