Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has blocked his players from gaining access to the Wi-Fi conection at the club’s training base. The Spaniard is said to have taken the step to foster more face-to-face communication and team spirit amongst the players. Defender Pablo Zabaleta also revealed that the ban from the internet connection is not the only method employed by the former Bayern Munich boss to ensure more communication. He said he had forced the team to have breakfast and lunch together. He said the Wi-Fi ban had helped to curb the disturbance by mobile phones in the team.
Other changes made by Guardiola include the banning of pizza after matches, with players now snacking on nuts. Guardiola has also instructed the squad to eat together at the Etihad Stadium following home games. Players no longer have to stay at the CFA before home matches and if any are deemed overweight they run the risk of having to work away from the first-team squad, as Samir Nasri had to do during pre-season.
