Lewis Hamilton suffered a second loss in a week as he finished third, behind second-placed Max Verstappen and first-placed Rico Rosberg, in the Japanese Grand Prix. The Briton made a poor start and initially dropped to eighth in Suzuka, which comes after an engine failure cost him in Malaysia last weekend. The slip puts Hamilton 33 points behind Rosberg with 100 to go in the remaining four races. The result hands Mercedes the constructors’ championship again.
Rosberg’s ninth victory of the season means he can now afford to finish second behind Hamilton in all the remaining races and still win the championship.
