Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi scored a brace for the Super Eagles in a friendly victory over Nigerian Professional Football League side Plateau United at the National Stadium, Abuja. The 20-year-old player scored his two goals in the second half of the encounter after Anderson Esiti had given the Eagles a lead in the first half. The match was a warm up for the team as coach Gernot Rohr prepares them for their World Cup qualifier showdown with Zambia at Ndola.
Alex Iwobi initiated a swift counter attack and finished it off to double the Super Eagles lead and the Arsenal attacking gem would wrap things up late in the game when he blasted home his second, and the senior national team’s third goal of the night. The Eagles started with Ezenwa, Musa Muhammed, Madu, Jamiu, Agbo, Esiti, Shehu, Ahmed Musa, Chisom Egbuchulam, Nosa and Obaje before introducing Ikeme, Echiejile, Omeruo, Ekong, Onazi, Mikel, Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Iwobi and Ideye in the second half.
