LASTMA Officials, Policeman ‘Fight’ Over Arrested ‘Danfo’ Driver

By Adebayo Williams

A scene was created at the Alausa area of Ikeja, Lagos as officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) clashed with a police officer over a commercial bus driver’s arrest. They had accused him of stopping at a non-designated bus stop to pick passengers. One of them, identified as Neye A., had allegedly jumped into the bus and struggled for control of the vehicle with the driver. The policeman, Sergeant Ojo, had intervened as the official was relentless even as passengers had pleaded with him to allow the driver park.

Vanguard reports that the other LASTMA officials had pursued and blocked the bus at Allen Avenue. They also refused to answer any queries by the passengers and passers-by, insisting they would take Ojo away for helping the driver evade arrest.

A police patrol team was said to have intervened in the matter and taken Ojo away.
