Nigeria’s Osunwa Smashes Arab Goalscoring Record

Nigerian striker Kelechi Osunwa has emerged the highest goal scorer in the Arab leagues after scoring three goals for his club, Al Ahly Shendi, to take his total to 38 goals. Osunwa also made the rec0rd books after emerging top scorer in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012 and 2016 in the Sudanese league.

Osunwa was dropped from the Golden Eaglets squad to the U-17 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago in controversial circumstances 15 years ago, after scoring five goals to help his country win the title in Seychelles and qualify for the World Cup. He joined Dolphins where he also emerged top scorer before moving to Sudanese side Al Hilal in 2006. He spent three years at the club before joining Al Merreikh where he won the Sudan Premier League in 2011 and 2013. He had short stints in Thailand and Egypt in 2014 starring for Tero Sasana and Ismaily respectively but returned to Sudan last year to join Al Ahly Shendi.
