Korea DPR slew their second African team at the FIFA U-17 Women World Cup in Jordan. Ghana had been on a resurgence equalising in the 81st minute to cancel out Korea’s earlier advantage. The game stretched into extra time where Korea’s Ja Un-Yong delivered the striking blow to send the Black Maidens back to their country.
Korea had taken the lead in the 12th minute after Grace Acheampong fouled Pyon Un-Gong in the penalty area. Kim Po-Ui stabbed home from the resulting penalty to give the side the lead. Gifty Acheampong had nettwed the equaliser before Korea finished the Africans off in the extra time.
Korea face Venezuela in the semi-final on Monday 17 October.
