W/Cup Qualifier: Akpeyi To Return For Algeria Clash

By Adebayo Williams

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, will be recalled for the team’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria on 12 November, sources say. The South Africa-based shot stopper is said to have been playing regularly for his club, Chippa United and will be handed the return based on current form. Akpeyi had helped the Dream Team VI to a bronze medal finish at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Akpeyi last featured for the Eagles against Egypt in an AFCON qualifier at Alexandria in March. He came to the fray when he was in the squad for the U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands. He is expected to be a back up to first choice Carl Ikeme.
