Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has arrived Abuja in preparation for his team’s departure to Zambia for a World Cup qualifier match in Ndola. The France-based manager arrived aboard an Air France plane with assistants, Jean Luc Royer and Nabil Trabelsi on Sunday. Other assistants, Salisu Yusuf and Imama Amapakabo, are expected to arrive on Monday.
Players are expected to start arriving camp from Monday with training sessions fixed for mornings and evenings of each day. The team is expected to fly out to Ndola on Friday. The match will be played at 1:30pm Nigerian time (2:30pm Zambian time) on Sunday.
Meanwhile captain John Obi Mikel has debunked rumours that he is nursing an injury. The Chelsea of England midfielder said he is fit and ready to play a part in the team’s qualifier against the Chipolopolo of Zambia. Mikel has endured a torrid time so far under new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte. The defensive midfielder has not made an appearance for the Blues this season. It is thought that his role in the Dream Team VI’s Olympic outing has made it difficult for him to impress Conte.
