Landlord’s Son Arraigned In Court For Beating Tenant

Abayomi Shorungbe, 47 has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday for allegedly beating up his father’s tenant.

The 47-year old who committed the offence in his Agege residence on the 24th of October was charged for conspiracy and assault.

The Prosecutor, Clifford Ogu said the complainant, Adewale Adejoro is the accused father’s tenant

“Because he hasn’t paid his house rent, the accused hired two soldiers who came to the house and dragged him to an unknown place.

“The accused was beaten several times and was made to write a letter of undertaking that he will vacate his apartment by end of year,” he said.

Ogu said his offence contravened Sections 166, 171 and 406 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State

He pleaded not guilty to the two count charge levied against him

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, however admitted the accused to aN50,000 bail with one surety in like sum. and adjourned the case adjourned the case till 28th November, 2016.
