It was indeed an interesting moments at the just concluded All Africa Music Award AFRIMA. Even though the award has come and gone, it will continue to linger in the minds of the participants. The event showcased the best of African music to the world, as it recognizes artistes for their hard work in the past year.
Newsbreak.ng does not only report the awards ceremony but we also report the red carpet with some interesting pictures of the worst and best dressed celebrities at the event.
Here are some of the highlights of the event;
Late start ‘Nigerian time factor’
The award, being a Sunday was expected to start early as many people will resume work on Monday. But the event started late due to the late arrival of dignitaries and celebrities. The audience were seating, patiently waiting for the show to begin at the wee hour of the night.
Worst Dressed Celebrities
When TV personality Denrele Edun got on the red carpet, one will think it was masquerade, but on a closer look, one will realized its was Denrele. Others worst dressed celebrities include Paul of PSquare, Fuji singer Atawewe among others.
Paul was seen wearing an ordinary t-shirt to an international event. People continued to wonder what he was thinking.
Then there was Diamond Platnumz, whose outfit was similar to that of a stage magician.
One is not sure of what is going on with his shirt but it hurt the eyes – and still does.
With the level of pre-event promotion done for AFRIMA, it was not entirely surprising that the attendance will have high rate audience. Even though the hall was filled to the brim such that many attendees were forced to stand and watch. Some were seen wearing slippers in the hall, while some were lying on the floor in the hall, sleeping. One will wonder if they were screened at the entrance before entering into the hall.
Brymo Performs KSA’s Hit Tracks
Former Chocolate City’s artiste, Brymo was at his best at the event when he gave a wonderful rendition of King Sunny Ade’s songs after the legend was given a Special Recognition Award.
Legendary awards-King Sunny Ade was decorated with the Nigerian flag while on stage. KSA commended the efforts of AFRIMA for recognizing him and for creating an international platform for Africans to showcase their works through music.
As the event draws to a close, the audience were entertained with live performances by the likes of Psquare, Phyno, Patoranking, Shayi Shay, Falz and other African artists.
