Segun Adewale, chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Lagos Chapter, alleges State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode offered cash gifts to Moshood Salvador and Taofik Gani, who he said belong to “illegal PDP faction” in the state. Gani had recently lauded Governor Ambode for providing infrastructure projects across the state.
“The PDP is aware of Taofik Gani’s unholy alliance with the opposition. Rumours have it that Moshood Salvador’s led illegal faction collected huge sums of money running into millions of naira plus several other gifts from the APC-led government of Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode during the last Sallah celebration which we suspect may have led to Taofik’s unguarded and unexplainable praises of his government”, Adewale said.
Adewale further said that Gani “has always been disloyal and mischievous, hence these views do not represent those of our party and our teeming members across the state”.
“I therefore appeal to Lagosians and the public at large not to identify with or take him serious as it will be at the peril of whoever does so.
“Lagos PDP has a competent publicity unit that is saddled with the responsibility of speaking on its behalf. Our publicity organ has not mandated anyone to make such statement”, Adewale stated.
“Taofik is definitely an APC member in disguise because no loyal party man would descend so low to praise an administration that has prevented its party and the citizens of the state from having elective representatives at the third tier of government.
“It is not our business to speak for the ruling party in the State. Lagosians can’t but notice that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is a puppet in the hands of the Bourdillon cabal whose interest is to concentrate projects in the highbrow areas of the state leaving the masses in densely populated area to suffer infrastructural deficiency.
“Gani’s anti-party activities have remained questionable before, during and after the last general elections. Investigations are in top gear to unmask his plans to discredit the party. Our disciplinary committee has being monitoring his anti-party activities and will soon recommend appropriate actions to be taken against him. Disloyalty to the PDP in any form and under any guise will no longer be tolerated.”
