The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared a one week warning strike from the 16th of November to 22nd 2016.
Biodun Ogunyemi, president of the union, announced the one-week strike in a circular released following their meeting on Saturday, November 12.
The “total and comprehensive” strike will commence on Wednesday, November 16 2016, and end on Tuesday, November 22.
Some of the issues being protested by ASUU include funding for revitalization of public universities based on federal government and ASUU memorandum of understanding of 2009, non-release of subvention of state universities by their visitors and registration of NUPEMCO.
Other lingering issues are payment of earned academic allowance (EAA) and shortfalls in salaries leading to payment of fractions of staff salaries.
According to ASUU, the strike is total and comprehensive with no teaching, examination or any other routine activities of any kind.
