By Ola Adeola

James Pine, Executive Secretary of Benue Teaching Service Board, has bagged a five-month imprisonment for slapping his subordinate. Pine allegedly also pushed his victim to the ground in the 13 March, 2016 incident, the court heard. The magistrate was however showed leniency by giving the defendant an option of paying a N10,000 fine.

The prosecution called three witnesses who confirmed the allegations against Pine. But Pine’s lawyer said it was a desperate attempt to convict Pine.

“The avalanche of evidence of prosecution point to the same direction and conclusion establishing that the offence was committed,” said Magistrate Dan Ogoh.
