The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has said it can’t confirm the efficacy of herbal drugs manufactured in the country.
Abubakar Jimoh, Director of Special Duties, NAFDAC, speaking at a stakeholder’s forum in Niger State said the certification number issued on some of the herbal products was an indication they were only fit for human consumption.
Jimoh further highlighted the NAFDAC number on those products were viable for a year after which the manufacturers would have to reapply for recertification.
He however concluded his speech saying the agency was working with another organization that would issue “all clear certificates for some of these herbal products “.
