Three men have been thrown in 10 years jail after they were found guilty sharing a Boko Haram-themed joke. The men, Fomusoh Ivo Feh, Afuh Nivelle Nfor and Azah Levis Gob, were sentenced by the Military Court of Yaounde, Cameroon for ‘non-denunciation of terrorist acts’.
Ivo was said to have sent the joke as a text message to the other men about the terrorist group currently ravaging some areas in the Northeast.
Amnesty International has called for the release of the men saying they were only exercising their right to freedom of expression. The body also raised concerns for the trial of civilians in military courts.
