Yaga Yarkawa,The Caretaker Chairman of Chibok Local Government Area of Borno state, has said that Boko Haram still controls the region.
The Chairman, Monday, lamented on the renewed attacks by the insurgents at Thlaimaklama village, which displaced many people from their homes. He insisted that Chibok once more has come under the siege of the group.
Yarkawa, also stated that Chibok is not safe contrary to military claims. He added that there have been series of renewed attacks on communities within the region.
“Due to the exploits of the insurgents, Kuburmbula, Tsilari, Kamdzilari, Kuburnvwu , Kautikari, Kwada, Buftari and Kakulmari villages bordering Damboa and Sambisa forest, and Klaimakla communities are still fully under the control of terrorists”, he said.
The Chibok Local government boss also cried out over the latest attack on Thlaimaklama town, where the sect carted away with fifteen vehicles loaded with food items, and set ablaze three vehicles and several houses without confrontation from security operatives.
Reacting to the development, Aboku, leader of vigilante group in the area, said that “the Boko Haram terrorists are always on the move and this makes it difficult to effectively monitor and apprehend them with ease.”
Aboku, called on the military to intensify effort by allowing the vigilantes to operate freely since the latter know better the areas where Boko Haram operate.
