Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte has told Victor Moses to concentrate on his Blues career and not be distracted by rumoured interest by Barcelona. The Super Eagles wideman has been a hit in Conte’s 3-4-3 formation playing as a wing-back. Moses has reportedly been watched by Barcelona scouts since the Italian converted him to a wing-back. The former Juventus boss was however silent about rewarding the Nigeria International with a new contract to ward off interest from rivals and other top European clubs.
“For everything [regarding contracts], there is the right time to speak,” Conte told a press conference at Cobham Training Centre. “About Victor, I repeat, it’s important to be focused on the present. It’s important to be focused game by game.
“Now we are doing very well. But, for me, I don’t want to think that my players see ‘so long’ (into the future). I like to think my players are focused on the present, not the future so long-term.
“We have just started in this league and, after a period, two bad defeats, we won six games in a row. This is important, now, to continue this. To be focused, to work for the present. Not to look at the future.”
Meanwhile, the Eagles’ midfielder’s compatriot, Mikel Obi may well be on his way out of the club by January. Conte hinted the 29-year-old does not have a future at Stamford Bridge and will be shipped out. Mikel has not played a match for the Blues since Conte took over in the summer. It is reported that the Italian is angry with him for choosing to play for the Dream Team VI at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
