Jide Awe, chairman, All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, Southwest, has been freed of a murder charge.

The Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti, Wednesday struck out the suit against Awe and three other persons, namely John Faboro Ojo, Aniramu Basiru, Falayi Busuyi.

The men were alleged to have murdered one Ayo Jeje and Mrs. Juliana Adewumi in Erinjiyan Ekiti on March 30, 2013.

Reprieve came for the formerly accused men following an application Yakubu Dauda, prosecuting counsel. Dauda sought that the case be struck out because he was unable to bring the defendants to court for trial.

However, Dauda will continue to prosecute two other men – Sefiu Owonifari and Adenijo Sola, alleged to committed the crime alongside the freed men.
