Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong has returned to Gent after his loan spell at Norwegian side Haugesund ended on Sunday. The 23-year-old helped the side to a fourth place finish and grabbed a UEFA Europa League ticket for net season.
He was not in action for the Haugesund Stadium outfit as they held Stroemsgodset to a 1-1 draw at home on Sunday evening. The former Tottenham Hotspur youth player took to his Instagram page to appreciate Haugesund’s support as waved the club goodbye.
“FK Haugesund it has been an amazing year. Top 4 finish and Europa League next season!,” Troost-Ekong posted on Instagram.
“I want to say a big thank you to my teammates, staff and of course all the fans! I couldn’t be more proud to have been captain of such a great club. All good things come to an end but I will never forget my time here in Norway. Tusen Takk! William.”
