A group, the Concerned Edo Leaders of Thought, CELT, has slammed people calling for the removal of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, John Odigie Oyegun.
The group, Thursday, while declaring their support affirmed that it would resist any attempt to force the former Permanent Secretary out of office.
A statement signed by the President of the group, Paul Ogbebor, described Oyegun’s alleged compromise of the APC Ondo Governorship Primaries as ‘untrue’. It added that ‘the chairman cannot be forced out of office through amorphous organizations peddling lies’.
“Nigerians are aware that no one can be blamed for the current problems besetting the APC and indeed the nation’s economy. To do otherwise is an attempt to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it”, the statement read in part.
The group further urged the leaders of the party to collaborate with the chairman to return the party “to the path of constitutionalism as opposed to the rule of one godfather and his collaborators by learning to channel their grievances through appropriate channels for redress.”
