The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested Ibanga Akpabio, brother to former Akwa Ibom governor, now, Senator Godswill Akpabio, said a report.

Online news portal Saharareporter said the younger Akpabio was arrested and detained at EFCC Port Harcourt office for defrauding a member of the Federal House of Representatives, Robinson Uwak.

“He is also being interrogated over allegations of fraud and money laundering”, the report said, quoting EFCC operatives.

Ibanga Akpabio is currently deputy chairman Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Akwa Ibom.

The report added Ibanga was recently caught on tape bragging about his connections, including having Ibrahim Magu, the EFCC chairman, in his pocket.
