The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has said that it may reinvite former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, over fresh allegations of a N400 million scam. Obanikoro was fingered as being guilty of receiving the amount from a former Finance Minister Nenadi Usman during the 2015 elections.
“As part of investigations into the billions disbursed by Nenadi Usman during the build-up to the 2015 elections, we interrogated a suspect at our office. The suspect told us that he handed over N400m to Obanikoro in the presence of some PDP members.
“So, Obanikoro will be invited to the Lagos office of the EFCC to tell his own side of the story,” the source told Punch.
Usman, who was director of finance of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, came under investigations when it was discovered that the office of the National Security Adviser had paid a company, Joint Trust Dimensions Limited, N3.15 billion. The company is said to belong to Usman.
Sources close to Obanikoro have said the former peoples Democratic Party guber candidate is not guilty. They claim he was not in charge of the Goodluck Jonathan Lagos campaign and so could not have been given the money.
