The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has congratulated the candidate of the party in Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), over his victory in the last weekend governorship election. Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said in a statement in Ado-Ekiti that Akeredolu’s victory had confirmed the confidence that Nigerians, particularly the people of the South West, reposed in APC and its leadership in the capability and capacity to restore hope to the people.
The party congratulated the people of Ondo State in their peaceful conduct during the election that did not record any untoward incident, saying that such a civilised conduct was a product of transparency and openness that President Muhammadu Buhari was instituting to strengthen democratic practice in Nigeria.
Praising Akeredolu for running an issue-based campaign devoid of violence, Olatunbosun urged the governor-elect to activate the process that would enable him deliver on his promises to the people. He also urged cooperation of the opposition and the general public to enable the governor-elect operate in an atmosphere of peace to enable him deliver good governance to the people. He praised party leaders, particularly the President, for leading an administration that made promotion of democratic norm its cornerstone, noting that this was responsible for the peaceful and transparent conduct of the election that made the result acceptable to all the candidates of other political parties.
It is a clear evidence of the acceptance of President Buhari’s leadership who came to solicit votes for the candidate of the APC.
