The governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai is set to flag off the distribution of 20,000 prepaid meters for electricity consumers in the state.
Abdulazeez Abdullahi, the company’s head, Corporate Communication, said this in a statement issued in Kaduna on Monday.
Abdullahi said the prepaid meters are a fraction of the 50,000 pieces designated to be distributed by the Kaduna Electric Meters in its franchise states.
“After the successful flag-off of the mass deployment of 50,000 prepaid smart meters in its franchise states at a ceremony in Sokoto in October, Kaduna Electric is set to launch the deployment of the meters in Kaduna state.
“The Kaduna Launch, which is expected to be flagged off by State Governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, is scheduled for Wednesday.’’
“The company is expecting the delivery of more meters before year end which shall also be deployed to its teeming customers in Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi, its franchise states,’’ the spokesman said.
He encouraged consumers to accept the installation of the meters in their homes, adding it will accurately read the amount of electricity they consume.
