A man, Okani Joel Ndubuisi, posed as an official of the Central Bank of Nigeria has conned a woman, Tina Njoku, of N37 million.
The 32-year-old man was arraigned before a Tinubu Magistrate Court on a four-count fraud charge.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Susan Ezema, Okani promised to assist Njoku procure a Bureau De Change license. He had presented a fake CBN appointment letter, dated 3 June, 2016, to deceive his victim at Bucknor Estste, Ejigbo, Lagos.
Okani pleaded not guilty to the charges levied against him.
The Presiding Magistrate, M.B Folami gave him a N50 million bail with two sureties in like sum. Folami said the sureties must be blood relatives, and over 40 years. She also demanded the sum of N1million be paid into the account of the chief registrar, and adjourned the case till 11th January 2017.
