Kidnappers from the creeks of Ishawo, in Ikorodu division of Lagos, reportedly seized a 61-year-old widow last Friday. According to Punch, the incident happened a month after Victoria Falodi, the victim, vacated her house in Olorunsogo Estate, Iyewa, after an initial attempt to kidnap her. She was said to have returned on the belief that security had been restored to the area.
The report said Victoria’s neighbour had come to charge his mobile phone in the former’s apartment, when the kidnappers struck at about 8am the fateful day.
They were also said to have severely beaten the neighbour, identified as Baba Ayomide.
“She (Victoria) begged them but they didn’t listen. They whisked her away. They came with an axe, a cutlass and a gun.
“There was an attempt to kidnap her a few months ago. We left home for about a month. We came back thinking the community was calm. We have not heard anything from the gang. She is a widow,” said Fola, the victim’s daughter.
However, the Lagos State Police Command has kept mum over the kidnap incident.
Dolapo Badmos, spokesman for the command, did not take Newsbreak. Ng’s call for a comment.
