Lagos Prophet Charged With Fraud

A Lagos prophet has been arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrates Court for fraud. The prophet, Amos Ojo, 52, was said to have collected the sum of N800,000 from a man on the pretext of executing a project. The accused, who lives at Waheed Ogunseye Street, Meiran, on the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta Expressway, pleaded not guilty.

 The offences, according to the prosecutor, Insp. Rachel Williams, were committed sometime in January at 25, Capitol Road, Agege, Lagos. She said Ojo collected the money from one Muyiwa Awoleku. She said the offences contravened Sections 285 and 312 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, L. Y Balogun, granted him a N300,000 bail and adjourned the case till 14 November for mention.
