Liverpool rose to the top of the Premier League table for the first time since May, 2014. The Reds hammered Watford 6-1 to catapult themselves to the top of the pack. Jurgen Klopp’s men dismantled The Hornets with blistering pace with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum all getting on the score sheet.
Sadio Mane opened the scoring after 27 minutes, while Philippe Coutinho and Emre Can also got in on the action before the break. Roberto Firmino added a fourth after the restart before Mane grabbed his second on the hour mark, and substitute Georginio Wijanldum rounded off the haul in injury time, while Daryl Janmaat added Watford‘s only goal. Liverpool scored four or more goals in a Premier League fixture for the fifth time in just 11 outings this term.
Observers have said that the rise has proved Liverpool to be valid title challengers.
