Man Goes To Prison For Stealing Rice

A man, named Fatai Aliyu, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by an Osogbo Magistrate court for stealing bowls of uncooked rice.

The 29-year-old suspect reportedly broke into a shop owned by one Comfort Oke in the early hours of October 29, at Oke-Ayepe, Osogbo. He allegedly carted away with 10 plastics of rice and four wine bottles.

The prosecutor, Mireti Wilson, told the court that Aliyu was apprehended by security guards in the area who handed him over to the police. Also, he stated that the crime was punishable under section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.

Ruling, the presiding magistrate, Olusola Aluko convicted and sentenced the accused to prison following his guilty plea.
