A man has been arraigned before an Igbosere High Court for allegedly killing one person and inflicting stab wound on another at Plank Bridge, Kemberi town, Okokomaiko, Lagos.
The defendant, Philip Ikechi was said to have stabbed his victims, Taofeek Aremu and Puadebi Yaige with a knife, leading to the latter’s death.
Ikechi has been in prison since 2014, when he committed the crime. He pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge preferred against him by the prosecution during his arraignment on Monday.
The prosecutor, R.0. Aroye, said the Ikechi’s alleged offence was punishable under Sections 219 and 171 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
C.J. Jiakponna, defense counsel, complained the case has suffered delay, thereby asking for the proper trial to begin.
The presiding judge, A.M. Nicole-Clay adjourned the case till January 17 and 24, for trial.
