The Nigerian Military has buried the slain commander of the 272 Special Task Force Tanks Battalion, Lt. Col. Muhammad Abu Ali at the Nigerian Military Cemetery, Abuja. Ali was buried along with Staff Sgt. Muazu Ibrahim, Sgt. Husseini Jafaru, Sgt. Okon Bassey, Cpl. Chukwu Simon, PTE Salisu Lawal and Able Seaman Patrick Paul who were killed by Boko Haram insurgents at Mallam Fatori, Borno State.
President Muhammadu Buhari was represented by the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari while the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai were present at the ceremony. They assured the grieving family members of the deceased of adequate welfare support.
Buratai said that the deceased colonel led the gallant troops to recapture Monguno, Baga, New Marge, Bama, Gwoza, Banki Junction, Gamboru Ngala, Yale, Yemteke, Bitam, Doronaira, Kagarwa, Ärrege, Abadam, and Mallam Fatori.
