Nigerian gay activist, Bisi Alimi, has married his British lover, Anthony, in the United Kingdom. Alimi, who is popular for his public support for gays and lesbians, tied the knot with his partner on Saturday.
“In the presence of friends and family from around the world, Anthony and I will say ‘I Do’. But we remember places in the world where love is (a) crime,” Alimi wrote on social twitter with a picture of himself and his partner.
Prior to the wedding, Alimi had also shared pictures of his ‘Bachelors’ party’ on social media.
“When your wife has arrived for your wedding, then you know the party is about to start. Bring it on,” he wrote on his Facebook post on Friday.
Alimi had always attacked the Nigerian governemnt for not being supportive of same sex marriage. His stance on sexuality had reportedly prompted him to relocate to the United Kingdom, ‘a place where love is not a crime’.
