Two policemen in Delta State, South-South Nigeria, are being held over the kidnap of a man, identified as Efe Daniel. The affected policemen, identified with one name each, Oreva, and Edom, were of the anti-riot squad, MOPOL 31, Ogwashi-Uku. The alleged officers reportedly left their duty post to carry out an illegal arrest and detention of a man in Abraka, another town in Delta.
Andrew Aniamaka, acting spokesman for Delta Police Command, said the affected officers were contracted by a man, named Edubra, to retrieve N50,000 Daniel owed him.
Aniamaka said the officers are disciplinary action.
“A disciplinary action, an orderly room trial, is already going on as we speak …the police authority will not spare any member of the force who goes against the law,” he said.
