The Presidency has said that is sure of Nigerians’ undying support for President Muhammadu Buhari. Speaking through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, it said the citizens were aware the present administration was all about their welfare. Shehu was responding to a statement allegedly made by a former member of defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Buba Galadima, that Buhari would be deserted by the people come 2019.
“The President’s enormous goodwill remains ever strong because the people are convinced the President is acting in their best interest, despite the temporary unintended consequences of reforms.
“President Muhammadu Buhari is far from isolation. He enjoys a very strategic relationship with ordinary Nigerians.
Shehu said the statement was false as the people were aware the President was protecting them from the sting of corruption which set the country back.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari will attend the 4th Africa-Arab Summit in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday. The summit, which will be attended by Heads of State and Government from Gulf and African countries, is expected to endorse the Malabo Declaration and Action Working Plan for 2017-2019 to promote trade and economic ties. The two-year plan seeks to implement priority projects in trade, investment, transportation, communication and energy in Africa.
