Rumour: Mikel To Make Marseille Switch, United Want Ozil, Others

By Adebayo Williams

Chelsea’s forgotten man John Mikel Obi is rumoured to be in talks over a move to Ligue 1 side, Marseille. The Super Eagles captain has been overlooked by the Blues’ boss Antonio Conte following his appearance at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Marseille are reportedly willing to offer the player a contract but his £75,000-a-week wage could be a stumbling block for the financially troubled club.  Turkish club Fenerbahce are also willing to snap up the midfielder.

In other rumours, Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Mesut Ozil’s condition at Arsenal. The German international has been stalling over a new deal with the Gunners. Ozil is reportedly demanding a huge £200,000-a-week salary which the Gunners are believed to assume as too much to ask for.

Chelsea are also willing to swoop for Hoffeinheim’s Germany U-23 defender Niklas Sule. The defender was an integral part of Germany’s silver medal-winning campaign at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal is rumoured to be seeking a return to Italian giants Juventus. The Chilean midfielder has been talking to former teammate Patrice Evra about his desire.
