Senate Debates Amaechi’s Roles In Rail Concessioning

Nigerian Senate Thursday debated federal government contracts undertaken by Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation. Senator Bassey Akpan moved the motion to probe the concession  of the Western (Lagos-Kano) and Eastern (Port Harcourt-Maiduguri) Rail Lines. He also called for the probe of the $2 billion contract with General Electric, GE, a United States company.

A post on the Senate Facebook said Akpan believes Amaechi “violated the provisions of the Public Enterprises (privatization and commercialisation) Act 1999 by engaging GE for the concession of the rail lined”.
