Shia Protesters Storm National Assembly

pictureProtesting members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, INM, otherwise known as Shia, Wednesday, stormed the National Assembly and the Federal Government secretariat in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital. The protesters are demanding the release of their detained leader Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.

However, the aggrieved sect members were confronted and dispersed by policemen.

Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife have been detained since December 2015 following a clash between IMN members and soldiers in the convoy of Chief of Army Staff Tukur Burutai. No fewer than350 Shia Muslims were reported killed in the confrontation.
