Soldier Who Faked His Kidnap Found In Lover’s House

By Bola Kougbe

An army officer, Musa Lawal, who allegedly faked his abduction, was found hiding at his girlfriend’s apartment.

Lawal was reportedly kidnapped outside a bank, along Calabar road, Cross River State, Thursday.

It is alleged Lawal plotted his abduction to enable him carry out illegal activities in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to a source, the suspect had travelled back to Eket, Akwa Ibom to stay at his lover’s house after his clandestine meeting with an unknown group. He was reportedly arrested by security operatives after he was discovered and presently detained in police custody.

Moreover, the state Army Public Relations Officer, Kayode Owolabi, said that the kidnap incident was fabricated.
“Nothing like that ever took place. It is all rumour because it is not possible to abduct someone in Calabar without attracting public attention in the broad day light, let alone a soldier who is fully dressed. You must get a pass before you are allowed to travel. Whatever they are saying is not true. The man is with us,” he said.
