Son Of Lagos Chief Must Die By Hanging – Court

Ibrahim Omilade, son to a Lagos traditional chief in  Oshodi area of Lagos  Island, has been sentenced to death by hanging. Also, convicted to face similar punishment are two brothers, Shola and Kayode Oni.

The suspects, Tuesday, at Ikeja High Court, were found guilty of killing Suleiman Afolabi during a fight that occurred in 2012.

It was alleged that the defendants had gone to the deceased’s apartment for a Christmas party. They claimed the victim’s brother, Akeem Afolabi, had threatened to deal with them for reason(s) they were not aware of.

The suspects, during trial told the court that their attempt to find out why Akeem threatened them was met with a violent reaction. The latter attacked them with a cutlass that accidentally landed on the victim. Afolabi died few days after he was rushed to the hospital.

Ruling, the presiding judge, Kudirat Ajose, sentenced the accused to death by hanging on the charge of murder and conspiracy.
