Supreme Court Says Appeal On Jegede/Ibrahim Be Heard

Supreme Court Tuesday ruled that the Appeal Court could proceed with its adjudication in the suit filed by Ondo factional Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate Eyitayo Jegede against the candidacy of Jimoh Ibrahim. The unanimous ruling by five Supreme Court justices led by Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen was made sequel to withdrawal of the applications on stay of execution filed against the appeal court by Biyi Poroye of the Ibrahim group, through his lawyer Beluolisa Nwofor (SAN).

The Appeal Court, last week, arrested its judgement due to be delivered on the candidacy tussle. With the development, the court will proceed to give its judgment.
