Simon Lalong, governor of Plateau, claims Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, is currently down with a failing health. Lalong says it was the reason Tinubu was absent at the Ondo APC governorship rally on Saturday.
“Tinubu, was not at the rally due to ill-health”, Lalong told reporters in Abuja Monday.
Lalong dispelled the insinuation that Tinubu’s absence and those of three South West governors loyal to him: Akinwumi Ambode(Lagos), Sen. Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo)and Rauf Aregbosola(Osun), exposes a crack in the party.
On the governors, Lalong claimed they sent in their apologies for not attending the rally.
The emergence as governorship candidate of Rotimi Akeredolu turned controversial with Tinubu, along some former governorship aspirants, rejecting the outcome of the primaries.
Lalong, as Chairman of Ondo APC Governorship Campaign Council, said the aggrieved members are behind the party’s candidates.
“We explained their absence. They sent in their apologies. You heard what happened there.
“As far as we are concerned, the President, who is the leader of the party, was at the rally. The national chairman was also there, as far as we are concerned, everybody was there.
“If a leader was not there and he said he was not there because of ill-health, we prayed that God will heal him.’’
